Originally a Bryant and May factory constructed in 1861, once being the biggest factory in London. It was the site of the Match Girls Strike in the 1880s this in turn formed the Union of Women Matchmakers, later renamed the Matchmakers Union. As a site of Historical importance English Heritage named the site with a blue plaque in 2022, this can be seen on the front of the building near the concierge office.
